Indigenous blockade meets Trudeau at Brock University

allthecanadianpolitics:

Indigenous demonstrators in support of pipeline protesters out West blocked the main vehicular entrance to Brock University Tuesday night where Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was holding a town hall meeting.

The St. Catharines action was one of several demonstrations across the country which have taken place since Jan. 7 when 14 people were arrested by RCMP at an Indigenous blockade in British Columbia. They are opposed to a pipeline that is being built through their Wet'suwet'en territory.

“We want (Trudeau) to notice us and to let him know we’re not happy with what’s happening out there,” said Chief Myeengun Henry of Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, near St. Thomas, at the Brock demonstration.

“He has a chance to do something about it and so we want him to do something about it. We don’t want him to send the RCMP into native traditional territory and arrest our people right on their own traditional land. That’s totally wrong, so we need to let him know that.”

Thomas joined about 25 people who blocked the main road onto Brock’s campus beginning about 4 p.m. in the bitter cold. Many held signs such as “No pipelines, respect native land” and “We stand with our land water protectors.”

seriously though bisexuality being defined as attraction to men and women is a heterosexual’s definition of bisexuality actual bisexual groups and organizations have been defining it as attraction to two or more genders or same and other genders since the nineties and plenty of nb people actually id as bi and refusing to accept how we define ourselves is so absurdly biphobic and heterosexist and jfc it’s 2014 can other queer people fucking realize and acknowledge this

The purple stripe on the bi flag is meant to represent attraction to nb genders and the bisexual manifesto published in Anything That Moves includes the lines “Do not assume that bisexuality is binary or duogamous in nature … In fact, don’t assume that there are only two genders.” That was published in 1990. It’s older than a lot of people here, including me, and older than terms like “pansexual” and “polysexual” by at least a decade. Bi history is important.

Anonymous asked: i would love to hear your thoughts abt your pregnancy while also having a history of an eating disorder // disordered eating habits. as a person who struggles w an ed and is also thinking about pregnancy, id love to hear any thoughts ! ♡

hi! it’s actually be really interesting seeing my brain change a little bit while pregnant and dealing with food. my experience is truly my own and exists in a vacuum so i don’t want anyone assuming this will be the case for them too!

the first two weeks before i found out i was pregnant i ate a FULL meal every two hours. and i mean a full fuckin meal. i’d never eaten so much in my life and after the fact looking back it makes me a lil uncomf but at the time i dunno something completely overrode my ED and was like HUNGRY EAT NOW!!!

then from week 4-9 i was sick as a dog nauseous and the only thing that would help was frequent eating (mostly carbs) small meals. this i was a little more comfortable with because it felt more like my ED habits. At the height of my ED, eating was exclusively done to keep me from passing out. So for the past few weeks eating almost felt like that again, eating for an express purpose. Another way my ED manifested was to make me physically nauseous so I wouldn’t eat meals, so trying to break out of that cycle was definitely hard.

now i’ve gone back to hungry all the time don’t care what it is i’m eating it just needs to be food lmao

overall i’d say 2 things about my first trimester and my ED:

1. something in my brain switched and was like… now if you don’t eat, it’s not just that you’ll pass out, you’re directly starving the baby (whether that’s true or not i don’t care). and it helped override the anxiety around eating.

(i actually have this little tick i do when i’m eating around other people, i rub my hands down my thighs kinda compulsively. i didn’t notice it until it was pointed out to me last year and i guess it’s like a self soothing thing but i haven’t done it since getting pregnant so … that’s interesting)

2. I’m eating whatever my body is in the mood for (especially when nauseous). I’m not going to mess with my brain by saying ‘no jam, you can’t have 2 bagels in the morning because that’s not #healthy eat fruit and yogurt instead’. If I have an appetite for something, I’m eating it so I stay good and for me and the baby and that’s all that really matters!!

(ps im eating lots of fruit and veggies don’t freak out)
